This 1 Day course (8hrs) is designed for Supervisory staff required to issue work permits to employees.

RIIRIS201D Conduct local risk control

These competency units address the need for personnel who issue work permits to conduct local risk control activities prior to issuing a permit. They also must understand the permit system, know the limitations of each permit and make decisions regarding the need for and correct use of each permit. This competency unit includes the issue of any and all permits. It applies to the issuing of permits covering a single plant or plant area such as might be an operators scope of responsibility.

MSMPER201 Monitor and control work permits

This competency applies to personnel who are required to monitor a work situation in which the activity is conducted under the auspices of a permit to work. During this activity the individual will monitor the work situation for conformance to the permit and will immediately intervene if the parameters of the permit are exceeded or work proceeds outside the boundaries set by the permit.

MSMPER200 Work in accordance with an issued permit

This unit aims to ensure that people working under a permit to work understand the system, know the limitations of the permit under which they are working and comply with all the requirements of the permit. The people to whom this unit applies may be called 'permit recipients' or 'permit holders' by some organisations.

The course comprises a written theory assessment, followed by a practical assessment. Participants need to have a strong command of the English language in order to complete the written assessment for these courses.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements

This unit requires the ability to read and interpret documentation including permits, test results, site plans etc and then communicate the conclusions.
Writing is required to the level of completing required workplace permits/reports/forms.
Numeracy to read instruments and interpret the results as being safe/not safe and so determine the required actions.

It is strongly recommended that prior to enrolling in this course, you take this Online Language, Literacy and Numeracy Indicator Test to evaluate your skills in:

Oral Communication, and
Numeracy.

These are the 5 core skills that make up the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). These skills have been identified as the basic skills that a person needs in the community, classroom and workplace.

A completed booking form must be submitted to the RTO Administrator, along with payment in order to secure a seat at the nominated training course.
