Duration: 8am - 4pm

This 8 hour course is appropriate for anyone who may be required to inspect and test portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets.

This unit provides participant’s with the skills and knowledge required by fire service technicians responsible for routinely inspecting and testing fire extinguishers and fire blankets on customers’ premises.

This unit specifies the outcomes required to conduct routine monthly, six-monthly and yearly inspections and testing of fire extinguishers and fire blankets at a customer’s premises.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and Industry sectors.

The course comprises a written theory assessment, followed by a practical assessment. Participants need to have a strong command of the English language in order to complete the written assessment for these courses.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements

This unit requires the ability to interpret any documentation or signage associated with the identification and use of fire fighting equipment.
Reading and writing is required to the level of reading instructions and completing required workplace reports.
Numeracy is required to enable the determination of pressure guages and similar activities.

It is strongly recommended that prior to enrolling in this course, you take this Online Language, Literacy and Numeracy Indicator Test to evaluate your skills in:

A completed booking form must be submitted to the RTO Administrator, along with payment in order to secure a seat at the nominated training course.
